In the first chapter of the book of Acts, just before Jesus is taken up into the clouds, He gives this instruction to His disciples – wait for the Holy Spirit to come upon you.
To be effective witnesses for Him we need to be empowered by Him.

What is the simple gospel? To put it plainly, every single one of us falls short of the standard of God. There is no one on earth that qualifies on their own merit. But, because of the great love that He had for us – even when we were still lost in our own sin – He chose to die for each one of us on the cross. He did this to pay the price for you to come to Him, and spend a life in relationship with Him – a life that has a glorious future to look forward to. In myself I am not enough, but when I am found in Christ – I am more than enough.
